Solar sellers and the trust problem: showing, not telling
Chrisphine Otieno · 19 Oct 2026 · 2 min read
Solar power is one of Africa's great energy stories. Pay-as-you-go solar home systems light millions of homes beyond the grid; rooftop installations help businesses and households cut bills and survive outages; solar water pumps change what farmers can grow. In Kenya, solar companies range from global brands to two-person installers in every county.
They share one marketing problem: trust. Customers have heard of panels that stopped working, batteries that died early, installers who disappeared. The promise of solar is long-term, and buyers want proof before they commit.
What buyers need to see
- The installation: neat wiring, proper mounting, safety
- The system working: lights on at night, a fridge running, a TV, a phone charging
- The savings: what a typical household or business pays before and after, honestly stated
- The support: who to call, how fast they come, what the warranty covers
- The payment: upfront price or pay-as-you-go plan, clearly
Show real installations
With Tari Studio, an installer can attach photos of real systems they have installed (with the owner's permission) and the Studio builds a short video from them. Nothing is charged until you accept the quote, which shows the length, shape and credits. Building from your real work keeps the promise honest. How attachments work.
The AK1 model suits solar content well: real homes, real rooftops, natural daylight. For a brand launch or a promotion, AK2 adds bolder colour and energy.
Savings claims need care
Savings are the heart of the pitch and the easiest thing to exaggerate. Use figures from your own customers' data, say what kind of home or business they apply to, and avoid "free electricity forever". Batteries degrade, usage varies, and customers compare notes.
Explain the technology simply
Many buyers do not know what a kilowatt-hour is, why battery size matters or what an inverter does. A series of short explainers, made with /script in the Studio and checked by your technical team, answers the questions that stop sales. Scripts with /script.
Switch every spoken line and caption to Kiswahili, Kenyan English or a blend of the two. For francophone markets, French is available.
After-sales is your marketing
The best advertising a solar company has is a system still working five years later. Show your maintenance team, your service response, your warranty process. A customer who knows you will come back is a customer who buys.
Make enquiring easy
End each clip with one step: a free site assessment, a WhatsApp chat or a call. Tracked links show which video brought each enquiry, so you know whether the savings clip or the installation clip does the selling. WhatsApp and leads.
