Car yards on TikTok: video that turns browsers into test drives
Chrisphine Otieno · 19 Oct 2026 · 2 min read
Buying a car is one of the largest purchases most Kenyan households make, and almost nobody does it on impulse. A typical buyer spends weeks scrolling Facebook car groups, TikTok yard tours and dealer pages, comparing models, prices and mileage, before visiting a yard on Ngong Road, Kiambu Road or Mombasa Road.
By the time they arrive, they have already chosen a shortlist. The dealer whose videos made that shortlist has the best chance of the sale.
What buyers want to see
Car buyers are suspicious, often with good reason. Good video earns trust by showing what brochures and listings hide:
- The exterior from every side, in daylight
- The interior: seats, dashboard, mileage on the odometer
- The engine bay, clean and running
- Any flaws, honestly
- The paperwork: logbook status, duty paid, inspection
- The price, and whether financing is available
A walk-around clip of under a minute covering those points does more than ten photos.
Use AI for the surrounding content
Individual car listings need real footage of the actual vehicle: buyers will compare every scratch. Where AI video helps a yard is the rest of its marketing: brand videos about the yard itself, financing explainers, trade-in offers, holiday promotions, and lifestyle clips showing what a family SUV or a work pickup means in everyday Kenyan life.
With Tari Studio, describe the scene, attach photos of your real yard and vehicles, and the Studio makes a short video from them, with a quote showing the length, shape and credits first. Never present a generated car as a specific vehicle in stock. How attachments work.
Explain financing simply
Many buyers need financing and do not understand it. A short explainer, made with /script in the Studio and checked by your finance partner, covering deposit, monthly payment and documents needed, answers the questions that stop people from enquiring. Scripts with /script.
Words on screen
Prices, mileage and years must be exactly right. For price posters, pick Ideogram 4 (clear text) on the quote, then check every number. Set the language of speech and on-screen words to English as Kenyans speak it, Kiswahili or the mix.
From view to test drive
End every clip with one action: book a test drive, or chat on WhatsApp. A tracked WhatsApp link shows which video brought each enquiry, and a shared inbox lets your sales team respond fast. In car sales, the dealer who answers first often wins. WhatsApp and leads.
Honesty sells cars
The car business has a reputation problem. A dealer who shows the scratch, discloses the accident history and states the real price stands out. Buyers tell their friends, and in Kenya, everyone has a friend looking for a car.
