Selling Kenya to the Gulf and Asia: language-ready video for new markets
Chrisphine Otieno · 19 Oct 2026 · 2 min read
Kenya's tourism strategy is looking east. According to ATTA, the Kenya Tourism Board is targeting 50,000 annual arrivals from Middle Eastern markets, against about 20,480 in the 2026 financial year, and has signed route-marketing deals with Emirates and Qatar Airways, following an earlier one with AirAsia X.
New markets mean new expectations. A family from Dubai, a honeymooning couple from Shanghai and a group of friends from Kuala Lumpur want different things from a trip to Kenya, and they discover it in different places.
Know what each traveller is buying
Every market is different, and operators who have served these travellers know the details better than any report. A few patterns are widely observed:
- Many Gulf families travel in larger groups and care about privacy, comfort, halal food and family-friendly activities.
- Many visitors from East Asia travel on shorter trips, value photography moments and want clear itineraries.
- Honeymooners everywhere want the sunset, the private dinner and the room with a view.
Your video should show the thing each audience is buying. One generic safari clip cannot do that.
Speak the language
Tari Studio lets you set the language of every spoken line and every word on screen. The options include English (international), French, Chinese (Mandarin), Kiswahili and English as Kenyans speak it. Brand names, prices, phone numbers and web addresses stay exactly as you typed them. Arabic is not among the Studio's languages today, so for Gulf audiences, use English (international) and let the pictures do the cultural work.
Whatever the language, have a native speaker check the final words before you publish. Even small errors on screen look careless to the audience you are trying to impress.
Show culture with respect
Video for international audiences should show Kenya as it is: its people, food and landscapes, not a stereotype of "Africa". It should also show visitors respectfully. If you are showing a Muslim family on holiday, for example, get the details right: modest dress if appropriate, prayer times respected in the itinerary, food clearly labelled.
When AI is involved, write these details into your description. The Studio's AI director adds them to the prompt the model receives, and you can open Prompt we sent on any result to check exactly what was asked. How the Studio works.
Meet them where they scroll
Facebook, Instagram and TikTok reach many Gulf and international travellers; some Asian markets rely more on platforms the Studio does not publish to directly. Download the finished video from your library and post it wherever your agents and partners work.
Make it easy to ask
International travellers often prefer email or WhatsApp to a phone call. Put a clear, single contact on every clip, and answer quickly across time zones. A shared inbox helps a small team cover enquiries day and night.
