A December content calendar for cafés, bars and lounges

For Kenya's hospitality businesses, December is the month that pays for January. Office parties, family reunions, holiday-makers at the coast and Nairobians who stay in town all go out more. So does everyone's marketing, which means your posts compete with every bank, supermarket and phone brand running a festive campaign.

A calendar solves two problems at once: it keeps you visible all month, and it stops the team making content at 11 p.m. the night before an event.

Week 1 (1 to 7 December): announce the season

Post your festive menu, your opening hours for the holidays and any events. One video for the menu and one image poster with dates. For posters with lots of words, use a model built for lettering; in the Tari Studio quote, choose Ideogram 4 (clear text) and check every date and price.

This is also the week to take bookings for office parties. A clip of a long table laid out and a line like "Book your team's end-year lunch" works well on LinkedIn and Facebook as well as Instagram.

Week 2 (8 to 14 December): Jamhuri Day

12 December is Jamhuri Day, and in 2026 it falls on a Saturday, so the whole weekend has a holiday mood. Plan a special: a brunch, a live band, a family offer. A short video on Thursday 10 or Friday 11 December, posted when people are making weekend plans, does better than one on the day itself.

Week 3 (15 to 21 December): the party peak

This is when the office parties and early holiday gatherings happen. Post content that shows people having a good time: the room at its best, the drinks being made, the music. The Studio's AK2 model, with its bold colour and music-led pacing, suits this mood.

Week 4 (22 to 28 December): Christmas

Some cafés and bars close on Christmas Day; others run special lunches. Say clearly what you are doing. Post a warm thank-you message to your customers. Not everything needs to sell.

Week 5 (29 to 31 December): New Year's Eve

If you have an event, the teaser goes out around 27 December, the reminder on the 30th and a "last tables" message on the 31st afternoon. Then stop posting and serve your customers.

Make it once, use it all month

Set up a template in the Studio with your festive look (colours, lettering, logo position) and use it for every post. Customers start recognising your December posts at a glance. Characters and templates.

If you want a regular product post, such as a cocktail of the week, Autopilot can prepare it on a schedule and wait for your approval before anything is published.

Responsible fun

If you promote alcohol, follow the rules on advertising it and do not target people who are under age. Many bars balance their December feed with soft drinks, mocktails, food and family offers. It widens the audience, and it looks better too.
