Event promoters: selling tickets with countdown videos
Chrisphine Otieno · 19 Oct 2026 · 2 min read
Every promoter in Nairobi knows the feeling. Two weeks before the show, ticket sales are thin and nerves are thick. Then, in the last three days, everyone buys at once. Kenyan audiences, like audiences in much of the world, decide late.
Late buying is risky for promoters: it makes planning hard, ties up cash and leaves you guessing about attendance. A planned sequence of short videos can pull some of those decisions earlier.
The countdown sequence
Think of the campaign in five stages, each with one or two short clips:
- Announcement (six to eight weeks out): the date, the venue, a teaser of the experience
- Lineup reveals (one per week): one artist or act per clip, with a taste of their performance
- Early-bird deadline (three to four weeks out): a clear reason to buy now
- Experience clips (two weeks out): what the night will feel like: the stage, the lights, the crowd, food and drinks
- Last call (final three days): how to buy, how to get there, what time doors open
Each stage gives people a fresh reason to share and a fresh nudge to buy.
Making many clips without many shoots
A campaign like that needs ten to twenty short videos. With Tari Studio, a promoter can describe each clip, attach photos of the venue or past events, and get a short video back, with the length, shape and credits shown on a quote first. The AK2 model's music-led pacing and bold colour suit event promotion. How the Studio works.
Keep the look consistent: set up your event as a brand with its colours and tone, so every clip feels like part of the same campaign. Brands and brand memory.
Artists' likenesses need permission
When announcing real artists, use the photos and footage they or their management provide and approve. Never generate an artist's face, voice or likeness without their permission, and never put words in their mouths. That is both a legal risk and a breach of trust with the talent you depend on.
Dates, prices and venues must be right
A wrong date on a poster can empty a venue. For ticket posters, pick Ideogram 4 (clear text) on the quote for sharp lettering, and check every date, time, price and venue name before posting.
Sell where the decision happens
Put the ticket link or a WhatsApp number on every clip. Tracked links show which reveal or clip brought each buyer, which tells you what your audience actually cares about. Automations can answer questions about parking, age limits and dress codes in seconds. WhatsApp and leads.
After the show
Post a thank-you clip within a day, with real photos from the night. It is the first ad for your next event.
