Black Friday, Kenyan style: a sale campaign you can plan in a week

Black Friday arrived in Kenya as an import and stayed because shoppers liked it. Supermarkets, electronics shops and online sellers now run November sales that stretch from a weekend to a whole month. In 2026, Black Friday itself lands on Friday 27 November, which also happens to sit close to the end-month payday for many salaried workers.

If you have not planned yet, a week is enough. Here is how to use it.

Day 1: decide the offer, honestly

Choose three to five products and the real discount on each. Write the before and after prices down and check them. Kenyan shoppers compare prices across shops and screenshots travel fast; a "50% off" that turns out to be last month's normal price will do more harm than no sale at all.

Decide the dates: the day itself, the weekend, or the full week.

Day 2: the teaser

Make a short vertical video that says something is coming without saying what: a covered shelf, a countdown, a door about to open. In Tari Studio, describe the scene and pick AK2, the Studio's bold, music-led model, which suits a launch. Set the language of speech and on-screen words to the one your customers use.

Post it to WhatsApp Status, TikTok and Instagram with "Save our number for first access".

Day 3: the offer posters

For each product, make a square image ad with the product, the price and the end date. Text in pictures is where AI images have historically gone wrong, so use a model built for lettering: in the Studio's quote, pick Ideogram 4 (clear text). Then check every price letter by letter before you post. Why AI gets text wrong, and how we fix it.

Day 4: the product videos

Turn your best two offers into ten-second videos. Attach a photo of the actual product so the clip shows what you really sell. Keep one shot per product and finish on the price and how to order.

Day 5: schedule everything

Schedule the posts to go out on Thursday evening, Friday morning, Friday lunchtime and Saturday. Add a tracked WhatsApp link to each, so you can see which post brought which conversation. Scheduling and tracked links.

Day 6: prepare the counter

Sales fail at the counter more often than in the ad. Prepare quick replies for the questions you will get a hundred times: "Is it still available?", "Do you deliver to Kitengela?", "Can I pay on delivery?" Tari Studio's automations can answer those from your approved answers in seconds, and hand the chat to a person when needed.

Day 7: the last-chance reminder

On Sunday evening, post a short "last few hours" clip. Then stop. A sale that never ends teaches customers to wait for the next one.

After the weekend

Look at what sold and what was only seen. Next year's campaign starts with this week's numbers.
